READ: Rev. 4.

Now to Him who is able to establish you … 27 to God, alone wise, be glory through Jesus Christ forever. Amen. – Rom. 16: 25a,27

The closing words of the Lord’s Prayer are not just a confession of humility and trust. They are also a hymn to the greatness and goodness of God our Father. It is an important part of our prayer. Honoring God and glorifying God’s name is the highest goal in our lives, isn’t it?

For that purpose, we were created as an image of Him, and for this we live and work on earth. That is our destiny as we go towards heaven and the delight of the Second Coming and the wedding day of the Lamb. The Lord Jesus has glorified His Father throughout his life’s work (John 17:4).

In a world of selfishness and self-gratification, we could easily forget that. We might think that our end goal is to live happily as the redeemed. But let’s see what our highest happiness is!  We read in many letters the praise of God for His divine virtues and deeds. It’s good to look that up*.

The Bible also tells us about the purpose of our life in heaven and eternal glory after we die.  We read in Rev. 4 how heaven is, day and night, filled with praise and adoration on the part of angels and deceased believers. This is because of God’s majesty, holiness, omnipotence and faithfulness, He Who was, Who is and Who comes.

Rev. 5 describes the worshipping of God the Father and God the Son as the Lamb who has been slain.  And soon there will be the wedding of the Lamb (Rev. 19).  Blessed are those who are called to be present there to sing His praises!

How do you praise the Lord during the week?
