READ: Gen. 1:20-25: … And God blessed them, saying, ‘Be fruitful …
On the fifth and sixth day, God creates living beings. He begins on the fifth day with birds, fish, sea creatures, and other swarming living creatures in the water. God creates birds from the earth (2:19), although this is not specifically mentioned for fish. He creates all of this in abundance and in various kinds. God sees that what He has created is good. Even for the creation on the fifth day, we read about God’s powerful word, God’s action, and God’s approval.
God even blesses these animals with His command to be fruitful and multiply. He provides them with the power to do so. It is not just a matter of instinct alone, but God works this out according to His purpose. The entire creation remains dependent on God’s power.
We read about this in Ps. 104:24-30: “How manifold are Your works! In wisdom You have made them all. The earth is full of Your creatures. This great and wide sea, in which are innumerable teeming things, living things both small and great. … These all wait for You, that You may give them their food in due season. What Uou give them, they gather in; You open your hand, they are filled with good … You send forth Your Spirit, they are created; and You renew the face of the earth.”
On the sixth day, God creates livestock, creeping creatures, and wild animals. According to their kind! It is stated three times! Livestock refers to the animals that live close to humans, while wild animals are those that live far away in nature. Everything according to its kind: this completely rules out the evolution from lower to higher beings.
God creates all living creatures in massive numbers and with diverse variations in just two days. Let us acknowledge this with great wonder and proclaim with Ps. 104 (rhymed): “The glory of the LORD forever stands!”
What is your response to the theory of evolution?
