And God said to Noah, ‘The end of all flesh has come before Me, for the earth is filled with violence through them; and behold, I will destroy them with the earth. Make yourself an ark of gopherwood; …

The seed of the serpent seems to have prevailed over the seed of the woman. Yet it turns out differently. In the offspring of the woman, a son was born in the church family of Lamech, named Noah, meaning comfort. Noah is five hundred years old when he has a family with three boys: Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Noah proves to be a righteous and blameless man among his contemporaries. Verse 8 says that Noah finds favor in the eyes of the LORD.

When God sees that the inhabitants of the earth are all corrupt, Noah is told that God will destroy all flesh, all creatures. God will bring such a great flood upon the earth that everything on the earth will perish. But Noah must build an ark for himself and his family, including the wives of his sons. In it, at least two of every created animal, male and female according to their kind, will also be spared.

Therefore, the church before the flood now consists of only one family. But God will deliver that one family through His judgment of the flood. God will make a new beginning with His church through them. It shows that God is patient but cannot be mocked. God’s ways are higher than our ways, not only regarding His judgments but also His redemption. He remains faithful to His promises once given.

Let us hold firm that God will not abandon the work of His hands, even though everything seems against it. In our time, it strongly resembles the time of Noah with so much temptation and apostasy. Therefore, let us persevere in faith and continue to prophesy, just as Enoch and Noah did!
