READ: Luk. 12: 22-34
And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Now to our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen. Greet every saint in Christ Jesus. The brethren who are with me greet you. All the saints greet you, but especially those who are of Caesar’s household. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.- Phil. 4:19-23
What about times of need and poverty? Paul now speaks to Philippi and to all who live in dependence on and gratitude to the Lord: the LORD will not forsake you. The LORD will not test you beyond what you can bear. He will ensure that you can endure everything through the strength of Christ. He will provide what you need in His service.
Paul is saying that he is not an exception when it comes to the Lord’s care. The Lord takes care of all His children in all circumstances (HC, LD 9 and 10). He will not fail, nor will He be stingy in providing what is necessary.
He will supply them with everything they need, according to His riches, in glory, through Christ Jesus (v.19). This should be an extra encouragement for our gratitude and trust in our God.
Let us view our abundance and wealth as gifts from Him, given so that we may thank and honor Him. And let us share generously with those in need, especially our brothers and sisters in Christ.
If God leads us into circumstances of poverty, illness, war, or other hardships, He is testing our faith and trust in Him. In such times, let us not despair but hold fast to His promises in faith and hope. By living in this way, we seek His Kingdom first, trusting that He will provide what He deems necessary.
The big question we must always ask ourselves is: Do we live on earth in constant gratitude to our Heavenly Father, with joy in the Lord?
Are you worried about the future?
