SEPTEMBER 5, 2025 – FOREVER

READ: Ex. 3:15–22: … This is My name forever, and this is My memorial to all generations

Moses must further instruct the Israelites about who God is. He is the same LORD, I AM WHO I AM, Yahweh, the God of the covenant, the God of their fathers: the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. What God intends and declares will come to pass. Such is His name — such is He, and such is what He does.

This will remain true in the future: forever. Therefore, God must be known and honored as such throughout all time.

This is a direct command from the LORD for all generations and all ages. This is how He wants to be known, remembered, and worshiped — in reverence, gratitude, and full trust.

This command requires constant biblical instruction in the church and in families — to confess the greatness and glory of God.

Moses must now also tell the Israelites everything God has revealed to him: that He has seen their misery and that He, as their God, will lead them out of Egypt to the promised land of prosperity and peace.

Moses also receives the instruction to go with the elders of Israel to Pharaoh and tell him that God wants them to offer sacrifices in the wilderness. Pharaoh will not permit this, not even under pressure. But then God Himself will strike Egypt with various miracles, so that they will let Israel go — even giving them precious gifts as they leave.

In short, God lays out His plan to Moses. Nothing will happen outside of His will. This is how He wants it, and so it will be. Moses and the Israelites can therefore deliver their message to Pharaoh with full confidence. The LORD is with them!

Is there any indication that anything happens outside of God’s control?
