READ: Is. 40:21-31
He who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see, to whom be honor and everlasting power. Amen. – 1 Tim. 6:15-16
With the call to persevere until the end, Paul points to the appearance of Christ. Everything in God’s plan is focused on that event. The appearance will certainly happen at the time determined by God. Then the good fight will come to an end, and God will be glorified.
It is essential for us to place our hope in that event. Because the good fight of faith not only requires our complete effort but also brings about much opposition. It is a noble duty but also a heavy one.
Timothy must continue to place his trust in God for both aspects. He, the blessed and almighty Lord, who governs everything and everyone and cannot tolerate sin, dwells in an inaccessible light. He will hold everyone accountable at Christ’s second coming. At the same time, He will now assist with His divine power all those who place their trust in Him.
Let us also take this powerful exhortation and encouragement to heart. The Almighty God, who gives us the command to engage in the good fight, will give us the strength to endure. He also gives us the prospect of the end of that fight. Let us not underestimate God!
All opponents, deceivers, and oppressors are in His hand. He is the Almighty Lord. But also, everything is meant for His glory. The good fight is His concern, and we may continue to expect His assistance. Let us look forward to the appearance of Christ and give God the glory in everything!
Why do we need this encouragement as well?
